Returning to work - Information for Job Hunters

In this section: Returning to Work | CV Advice | Interview Tips | Tax Credits | Equal Opportunities

Get Mum A Job is a specialist website dedicated to helping parents (especially mothers) find employment that is compatible with children, school hours and holidays.

The job market is changing. You will probably have valuable employment experience gained before you took a break to bring up your children. Employers need your skills and are keen to offer suitable part time positions to enable you to work around school hours.

Full time or part time? Temporary or permanent?

The type of job that you apply for will depend upon your circumstances:

Some mothers go straight back to work: full time, permanent contract. This can be a big challenge and does not suit everybody. Others look for part time work, or take short term full time work, then have a break between contracts.

Only you will know what is right for you: we recommend that you try to identify your needs before you apply for any jobs. You should then have a clear idea of what you are looking for - this will often be a great help at the interview stage, as both you and your prospective employer will have a good understanding of what you expect from the job.
